Strafford (MO) offensive lineman Tyler Evans started with a lot of early attention in recruiting and as the summer approaches, it looks like another round of attention may be coming his way. He said the attention was nice, and it had been especially sweet to add offers from two more schools.

"It's been good. I received an offer from Arkansas and Iowa State in the last few weeks," said Evans. "That puts me at 5 now. I've got offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Arkansas, Iowa State, and Missouri. I've been talking a lot with Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Arkansas in the past few weeks. I've also talked quite a bit with coach Dave Christensen from Missouri. I've been trying to find out what the players are doing right now and what sorts of workouts they have during the summer."
When he has gotten the chance to talk with the Tigers' offensive coordinator, he admitted it had been a lot of the same things he had talked with other schools about. He did say the coach was excited about some of the news that Evans had for him the last time they talked. He added that the coach had helped him learn things that he didn't know about the Tigers and he was glad he had been able to learn them.
"He's really excited that I'm coming to their one day camp in St. Louis," said Evans. I've been pretty much talking with him about the same things that the other schools have been and we've been talking a little about the academics. I've been really able to learn about Missouri's academics over the past few weeks. They're really outstanding at helping their athletes and getting them into a position that will allow them to succeed off the field and in their chosen career. I know Missouri also has the types of career paths that I'd like to follow when it comes to physical education."
While he has been busy talking with coaches, Evans said there was also one other lineman that he had been talking with. Although the two hadn't talked much, he joked that he knew what their conversations would soon be about.
"Jack Meiners and I talk every now and then," said Evans. "We haven't talked too much, but he was telling me about Missouri and why he chose to pick them. We talked some about them before he committed, but I'm sure he'll be more than willing talk them up and I'm ok with that if he wants to. He's probably looking to bring in other offensive linemen to play with him."
Evans has kept a fairly low profile during the spring and has tried to stay focused on getting stronger. He said that most of his spring was spent in the weight room and learning how to improve another aspect of his game.
"I just stayed in the weight room this spring," said Evans. "I just want to stay focused on football right now, although I might end up playing basketball and running track next year. We completed our spring practices and we've got our football camp next week. It went great. I think we were able to really improve over the spring. I want to work on my pass protection. We're more of a run offense, so I want to work on my pass protection so I can be a more complete player."
Along with the Tigers, Evans plans on camping with Arkansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. He expects to make a decision sometime after his senior season.
