PM: Go back to your first day on campus this summer. What were your emotions like. A little nervous?
LAWRENCE: My first day... I mean, I was a little nervous, but that's pretty normal for most people. But, once I learned everything and got used to it, I got it into my system where it was natural. I come everyday to work hard with a new program and stuff like that.
PM: I know ya'll get paired up with an older teammate. Who was your big brother?
LAWRENCE: In the summer, I was living with Sean Weatherspoon and I would go to practice with him and stuff like that. My big brother now is De'Vion Moore.
PM: From the first few days of camp, it's obvious that you're feeling pretty comfortable out there. When did you start to realize you were getting adjusted to the college game?
LAWRENCE: Kind of like my third week here, maybe. I got used to the daily routine, the weight lifting program and the running. So kind of like my third week.
PM: From weight lifting and conditioning this summer, what areas do you fee like you improved?
LAWRENCE: I think I improved in bench and hang clean.
PM: And how do those lifts help you on the field?
LAWRENCE: Bench helps my strength, if I want to take on a block or try and lower my head on someone. And then hang clean helps my explosiveness, so if I just want to burst through someone or lay out a big block.
PM: Now that you're in full pads, do you feel like you've adjusted to the speed out there?
LAWRENCE: I'm getting it, but at first it was a little different because the speed in high school and college is way different. But as I watched the older guys, I took my steps right and got my speed, I'm adjusting to it.
PM: Your style and explosiveness seem reminiscent of Moore, but your story - the way the depth chart is falling this year - reminds me a lot of Derrick Washington. He came here his freshman year, was third on the chart and saw a lot of touches during the season. Has he given you any advice, because it looks like you're going to see some playing time this year?
LAWRENCE: Both of them give me advice because we brothers, basically. They just help me out on the plays, tell me how I should take my steps, tell me to let the blocks come, and then I go. I mean, both of them help out, and it's real nice.
PM: You've been working with the kick returners. Did you do any of that in high school?
LAWRENCE: Yeah, I did, but I didn't get kicked to very much.
PM: Do you feel like that's an area where you can make an impact on the team this year?
LAWRENCE: Yeah, I do. I know the speed's a lot different, but if you hit the seam right and let your blockers help you, it should be right if you hit it at the right speed.
