Houston WR to sign with Mizzou

Missouri lost a couple of wide receiver commits in the last week and the Tigers dipped into the Lone Star State for a late replacement before National Signing Day. Cypress Springs wideout O'Shae Clark will sign a National Letter of Intent with the Tigers on Wednesday morning.

Clark was a first-team all-state receiver in Texas 6A. He had more than 1,700 yards receiving and scored 18 touchdowns. Athletic.net lists Clark with personal bests of 22.54 in the 200 meters and 48.27 in the 400 meters. His size (5-foot-9, 165 pounds) limited his recruitment even after a stellar senior season.

"Recruiting was a hard process for me and I'm glad it's coming to an end," Clark told PowerMizzou.com on Tuesday afternoon. "I didn't think it was going to end like this though. I didn't think I'd end up in the SEC. I was all set to sign with Southeastern Louisiana. I always knew in my heart I could play at a bigger school, but my size and some grade issues kept me under the radar. I got the test score I needed recently and schools started reaching out to me. Missouri, Baylor, Tulsa and Georgia. Missouri took a chance on me and it's going to pay off for them."

Clark was headed to Southeastern Louisiana before the Tigers came calling just within the last 48 hours. Now, he's headed to play in the Southeastern Conference.

"Even without taking a visit I know what conference they are in," he said. "The SEC is he number one conference in college football. It's something you got to feel. I've been knowing about the SEC since I was a kid. One of my dreams was to play in the SEC. I know enough about Mizzou to be comfortable with my decision."

Clark said he hopes to make an immediate impact on special teams. He is the 23rd known commitment for the Tigers in the 2017 class. National Signing Day is Wednesday and Missouri's class is expected to grow by at least a couple more.
