PowerMizzou lands a big commit

PowerMizzou.com has added to its staff in a big way on the eve of the 2017 football season. Former Columbia Daily Tribune sports editor Joe Walljasper will be a part of the team covering the Tigers for PowerMizzou.com.

For all but three of the last 23 years, Walljasper has covered the Tigers in a variety of roles for the Tribune. He covered Tiger hoops and football, turned into the state's best columnist and, in recent years, ran the department as the sports editor. Walljasper's two decade run at the Tribune ended last month.

While Walljasper is taking a full-time job outside the media, he will continue to keep his hand in the game with a weekly column on PowerMizzou.com.

The current plan is to have Walljasper's column run each Friday morning on the site. It will be a combination of Mizzou musings, SEC meanderings and the wit and candor readers have come to expect from Walljasper since 1994. And, like any new venture, it will likely change and evolve over time. Walljasper's column will begin this Friday morning, August 4th.

Football camp starts on Tuesday morning, Mizzou hoops is on the verge of its most anticipated season in years and the non-revenue sports led the Tiger athletic department to its best ever finish in the Learfield Cup standings in 2016-17. By adding Walljasper to our current staff of writers covering the Tigers, PowerMizzou.com hopes to remain the top source for the inside scoop on Mizzou sports.
