Third visit for Cox

Jabril Cox is starting to become a regular around the Mizzou football facilities. The 2016 Kansas City (Mo.) Raytown South quarterback/linebacker was invited to Mizzou's Junior Day as a sophomore and then attended the Tigers' one day camp in June.
Most recently, Cox visited Mizzou last week to get more of an intimate look at what Mizzou has to offer.

"I met all the coaches. Everybody on the coaching staff," explained the 6-foot-3, 200 pound prospect. "Coach Andy Hill pulled me in to his office and we spoke a little bit. We were just walking around and looking at the work study facilities and opportunities. The academic part of it and everything."
Cox also got some clarity on where he stands in regards to an offer from the Tigers.
"Coach Andy Hill said that after seeing me at camp they were real real close to offering. They are real close to giving me an offer," said Cox. "He told me that they are looking at me strictly for defense right now. Linebacker."
Despite playing quarterback, a position that seems to become the singular focus of anyone who steps under center, Cox is not turned off by Mizzou recruiting him for defense.
"Yes, yes I can," he said when asked if he can see himself giving up quarterback for linebacker. "I like to play all positions, though. Offense, defense it's all good."
That does not mean Cox is not working to become the best quarterback he can in the meantime.
"I went to the Peyton Manning Passing Academy a couple weeks ago. It was a great camp. I learned a whole lot. There were kids from everywhere and current college players. I got to meet Maty Mauk. I introduced myself to him and told him where I was from. They taught me a lot. It was great," said Cox.
Back to his most recent visit to Mizzou, Cox said there were a couple moments that stood out.
"The highlight of today would be just knowing that the coaches were very welcoming. Right off the bat they automatically knew my name and they started just being real courteous with me," he said. "Asking me if I needed anything. Showing me the weight room. I really liked the weight room part of it. Getting a chance to go through it."
Next up for Cox are possible visits to Kansas, Kansas State and Arkansas. Despite the increased interest from local schools, Cox plans to really take his time with recruiting.
"Not yet," he answered when asked if any schools were standing out. "I'm just waiting for schools to come after me and then after football season, that's when I'll start focusing on that part of it more."
After experiencing Mizzou for the third time in six months, Cox is getting a good feel for what the Tigers have to offer. And now that his older twin brothers, tailbacks Jamaal and Jameel, are walking on after playing a season of JUCO ball, he will get the best possible first hand reports.
How much sway could his brothers being Tigers have on his decision? Cox said it could be a lot.
"I think it can though. I think it really can play a big part in my decision," he said. "To know that my brothers go there and see how they like the atmosphere. I think it will."
