The Missouri Tigers came out with their second win in the 2008 O'Reilly Puerto Rico Tipoff on Sunday with their best effort of the season. The Tigers knocked off USC, which came into the game ranked in the nation's top 20, 83-72.
Junior DeMarre Carroll led Mizzou with 29 points, including a huge shot-clock beating three-pointer that put the Tigers up 77-69 late in the game. USC would never get any closer. Carroll added 11 rebounds and three assists and also hit all three of his shots from three-point range.
"DeMarre sure made a lot of plays to keep us going against a good USC team," Head Coach Mike Anderson said. "I think our bench played excellent and really allowed us to impose our style late in the game, during some crucial minutes."
Mizzou trailed by as many as 12 points, but outscored USC 46-29 in the second half and led by as many as 13.
The win moved the Tigers to 4-and-1 on the season as they return home. Missouri now gets a week off before facing Oral Roberts at Mizzou Arena on November 30th. Click here to see Sunday's complete box score.
