Badgers flip Adam Bay, top long snapper in country, from Missouri

Adam Bay arrived this weekend at Wisconsin committed to Missouri. He left a member of the Badgers' 2017 recruiting class.

Sunday, the top long snapper in the country, according KohlsKicking.com, pledged to head coach Paul Chryst during his official visit.

"Everything was amazing, everything I expected and more," Bay told BadgerBlitz.com. "I committed to Wisconsin today. This is my final decision and this is the place for me."

With starter Connor Udelhoven set to graduate at the conclusion of this season and freshman Jake Cesear no longer with the program, finding a long snapper in this cycle was imperative. And according to Bay, a 6-foot, 210-pound senior from Arizona, Wisconsin was always the place he wanted to be.

"They wanted me," Bay said. "They all knew who I was, even Ron Dayne came up and told me how much he wants to see me here. They expect a lot out of me and they are excited about me becoming a Badger. Coming in and playing right away is the plan. I still have to go out and execute and practice hard every day, though.

"It was my top choice throughout the summer. The game day atmosphere, the fan base, the academics, coaching staff, the players, the weather. To me, there's nothing not to like about Madison. It's just a better overall fit than Missouri for me."

Bay, who will be on full scholarship, was hosted this weekend by punter P.J. Rosowski.

"The time we spent after the game was amazing," Bay said. "Him and a few other players showed me around Madison and with Halloween on Monday, there was a lot of neat things to see."

Bay is commit No. 12 for Wisconsin in the 2017 class. The Badgers are expected to have scholarship athletes at all three spots on special teams (kicker Rafael Gaglianone and punter Anthony Lotti, in addition to Bay) next fall.
