Adams hoping for an offer

The Missouri Tigers coaching staff recently visited Adamsville, Al., and met with Jaylond Adams. Yes, the name might not ring a bell, but the 5-foot-10 wide receiver will be in Columbia this weekend on an official visit and might just be the late bloomer for the Class of 2017.

“The coaches came up to visit and see my real size in person,” Adams said. “They want to get me down there for a visit this weekend.”

The coaching staff did not extend an offer to the three-star while they were visiting Adams in Alabama, but Adams is hoping that when he makes the trip to Columbia, the coaching staff will give him an opportunity.

“I’m guessing that they will extend an offer when I come down on the visit,” Adams told PowerMizzou.com

What is Adams going to be looking for while he is on his official visit, especially since he is just now starting to get to know the Missouri coaching staff?

“I’m just hoping for a good atmosphere,” Adams said. “Being around a great environment and I want to see the team chemistry and how the players are when they are around each other. I want to get a feel for the players and get a chance to talk to the coaching staff and see how the coaching staff is.”

With small schools like Troy, Southern Miss, and UAB being the major offers for Adams, one might wonder why Missouri is all of a sudden showing attention. When I asked Adams why, his answer made sense.

“My senior film came out and I did pretty good, so they jumped on it late,” Adams said. “When I was talking with them earlier they said a lot of the information they had on me was wrong. I’m definitely going to have to get to know the coaching staff before I make any type of decision. I will have to get to know the coaching staff real well.”

Not only are the Tigers talking to Adams extremely late in the recruiting process, but the Texas Longhorns and the Oregon Ducks both saw Adams’ film and have taken interest in the speedy slot receiver. Fortunately for the Tigers, they were able to secure his final official visit and they are hoping to show Adams a good time while he is in Columbia.

“Well, the coaches basically told me that they are excited about bringing me in and they plan to show me a good time while I am on my visit up there,” Adams said. “They want to utilize me in the slot.”
