Catching up with 2026 Kirkwood ATH Jacob Eberhart

After attending a Mizzou 7-on-7 camp earlier this month, PowerMizzou caught up with 6-foot-2, 210-pound Kirkwood junior ATH Jacob Eberhart. He talks about his summer plans, offers he's received and learning the game from his cousin, Markus Golden, and his head coach Jeremy Maclin.

What positions do you play and where do you feel the most comfortable?

“I'm playing safety and I'm playing outside receiver. When coaches ask me, I say athlete and they love that answer. I've been getting recruited from an athlete standpoint. They just love the way I move and stuff like that.

But I like to hit and stuff and make tackles. I really just like playing football so I don't really care where I play, I just want to play. But if I have to pick one I'd probably say defensive back.”

What Mizzou camp did you go to recently and what did the coaches tell you?

”I feel like the camp was set up well. After my first game, I think we played De Smet and a recruiting coach put me in to get my measurements. He put me in to get my height, weight, wingspan and all of that. I think the campus is really good and I had a fun time out there.”

You have offers from Kent State and UNLV. What other schools (in addition to Mizzou) are you hearing from?

“I'm hearing a lot from Kentucky, Penn State, Kansas State, Arkansas and Boston College.”

What unofficial visits or camps have you been to since the school year ended and what are your plans for the rest of the summer?

“I went to both Lindenwood camps, they were regular 7-on-7 camps. I feel like I competed well at both of those. I also went to Kentucky and competed and felt like I competed well at that.

I'm going to a camp on the (July) 26th at Penn State, hopefully. Or K-State, but I will be at a camp on the 26th.

Then, I think one of my teammates and I are going up to Eastern Michigan because they're having a junior day. I'm probably going to go back up to Mizzou for an unofficial (visit). Kentucky said they want me to come back down for a junior day and stuff like that. But as far as camps, I'm probably done unless I can make it to Boston College's.”

Now your cousin is Markus Golden, right? How has he helped you so far through your career?

“He really showed me the ropes of how it really goes. Showed me the ins and outs of stuff. He got me started early. Everything started early to make sure I was on top of it.

I feel like our relationship has really grown over the years. At this point, he's like a brother to me, like he's more than a cousin. More than just someone I probably see at a family reunion and just say hi to. He's somebody I really can kick it with and I just love being around him. He's a great person.”

How has it been learning and being coached by Jeremy Maclin?

“I love being around coach. He's very humble. ... I go spend time with him. I talk to him. I ask him questions. I talk to him a lot about, 'How I do this? How do I run this route?' Stuff like school. Like how was school and stuff with him obviously going to Kirkwood. He tells us what was different, what's the same, and all of that, and what we got versus what we don't got.”
