Down to the wire

One of Missouri's top remaining 2011 prospects is nearing a decision.
Jefferson City running back Kody Walker, a 5.7 three-star recruit and Missouri's sixth-ranked recruit, has long held Arkansas and the in-state Tigers at the top of his list. Despite offers from other schools around the Midwest, Walker has always held the Tigers and Razorbacks in high esteem.

Now, after an early summer visit to Columbia, and a planned late-July visit to Fayetteville, Walker said a decision is imminent.
"It's going to be my last visit there," Walker said. "I just want to check out the lifestyle and the city a little bit more."
Walker said that while he originally planned to make a decision during his senior season, his timetable has moved up.
"I just want to get it out of the way," Walker said. "I want to be able to focus on my senior season."
While Walker admitted that Missouri and Arkansas are "pretty much" his two finalists, he's still open to other schools that make a late push.
For now, though, it'll come down to his top two.
"At Missouri, I know a lot of the players," Walker said. "There's a couple of guys from JC, and they've told me how good of a school it is. Their strength program is a big plus.
"The negative is, it's a little close to home."
"As for Arkansas, it's not too far, and it's a good school with a good program. I'd have some new surroundings."
Even with a decision on the horizon, Walker isn't ready to give either team an advantage.
"It's still a dead heat."
After his visit to Arkansas, Walker said a decision will come "in a short time."
