Easy choice for McGovern
Fargo, N.D., isn't exactly a hot-bed for college football talent. That's why Connor McGovern had to work to get noticed.
"The biggest thing was going to camps," McGovern said. "Camps made the difference."

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive lineman has been going to camps since he was in the 7th grade. For the past two summers, McGovern attended Missouri's team camp. Finally, on Friday, all his travels paid off.
"I called coach (Josh) Henson today," McGovern said. "He handed the phone to Coach Pinkel, and he offered me a scholarship."
It was the moment McGovern waited for. Missouri was his top school for two years now, and his response was quick.
"I committed on the spot," he said. "He (Pinkel) was excited, but it took him off guard a little bit."
Missouri is a family affair for McGovern. Both sides of his family have relatives in St. Louis or Kansas City, and his uncle went to Missouri's law school.
"He played college ball somewhere first," McGovern said of his uncle. "I'm not sure where, though."
Now, McGovern gets that same opportunity. Missouri offered him as a center -- a position he's never played before.
"After this camp, they told me if they offered, it'd be at center," McGovern said. "So I've been practicing snapping the ball."
His high school team is "50-50" run and pass, McGovern said. although he admitted he's stronger as a run blocker right now.
"I've been practicing pass sets, because when we throw, it's usually on roll-outs."
Sure of his decision, McGovern said there's only one more visit on his horizon.
"I'll take an official to Missouri, and that's it."
