Fall camp preview: Cornerbacks

Over the next couple of weeks, PowerMizzou.com will get Tiger fans set for fall camp with an in-depth breakdown at every position. We will outline the likely starters headed into fall camp, highlight a few backups who could challenge for a job, and set the scene with the major camp storylines at each spot. This will be a special free series on the site, every day for ten days. Today, we look at the cornerbacks:
The Starters: Carl Gettis and Kevin Rutland started all last year and enter their senior seasons in good shape to hold down the starting jobs. There is some depth at the position, but it seems unlikely either of the seniors would lose his spot.

The Backups: Kip Edwards came on strong last year and Munir Prince finally had a breakout spring. Trey Hobson and Robert Steeples give the Tigers' half a dozen corners with playing experience. Add in talented newcomers like Tristen Holt and the coaches should have quite a few options in the defensive backfield.
The Top Story: Can the corners continue to impress as they did in the spring? Gettis, Rutland, Edwards and Prince all were scrimmage stars at times in the spring. But this unit has had its struggles the last few years and the proof won't come until they line up against someone else. During camp, the biggest intrigue may be in how they play. The corners said they were playing more press and man-to-man coverage in the spring. Will that continue in the fall?
