When I first read about Khmari Thompson taking two years off from football to focus on track, I expected to see a receiver who was a pure vertical threat with average to below average hands. After watching the tape, my expectation could not have been more wrong.

While Thompson has blazing speed and can take the top off the defense, he is so much more than that. While he can still clean up his technique in his route running and show he can run the whole tree, he has excellent feet, gets good releases off the line, and is a much better route runner than I expected to see.

He has a good catch radius and makes some highlight reel catches in traffic. He does not look like a track athlete playing receiver, he looks like a receiver with track athlete speed. He isn't the most elusive runner after the catch, isn't going to break many ankles and make guys miss, but he will rip off big plays based on his sheer speed.

Overall, he will fit perfectly into Missouri's vertical passing attack like an Emanuel Hall or a Johnathon Johnson, but his ability to make contested catches and contribute in the short to intermediate game will give him the chance to be the gem of this recruiting class.
