Four-star point guard C.J. Roberts picks Missouri

From the moment he landed in Columbia, four-star point guard C.J. Roberts felt like he'd found a home at the University of Missouri.

Just 24 hours after returning home from his official visit to Mizzou, the explosive scorer from North Richland Hills (Texas) Richland told Rivals.com that he has committed to Kim Anderson and the Tigers.

“It was a great visit overall," said Roberts. "They made feel comfortable and like I was already on the team from the minute I got there until the minute I left and that meant a lot to me”

While Roberts loved campus and felt really comfortable with his future teammates, it was the efforts made by Anderson and his staff to prioritize him that really stood out.

“The first day that college coaches could come out was Friday, Sept. 9," said Roberts. "They were the first people there, first thing in the morning and (Coach Anderson) brought his entire staff to do an him visit.

“On the visit I spent more time with Coach Anderson than I did with the players. That really stood out to me. He’s a hands on guy and told me what I couldn’t’ do and could do as a player and I really like that from a coach.”

An explosive point guard who can play above the rim, Roberts plays with a huge chip on his shoulder and doesn't back down from anybody. He plays with a downhill style in that he's always on the attack and that's how the Tigers staff wants him to play in Columbia.

“They just want me to come in and be an immediate impact player," said Roberts. "They are going to put the ball in my hands and let me be a combo guard. They feel like I can make plays for myself and others and they feel like that’s a big piece that they need."

Roberts is Missouri's first commitment from the class of 2017 and he's looking forward to channeling his focus during his senior year.

“It’s a great a feeling," said Roberts. "I'd like to thank God for giving me the ability to do this and for keeping me injury free. It feels good to have all of this over with and now focus on bettering myself and my family."
