Hampton (Ga.) Dutchtown athlete Donovahn Jones wrapped up a roadtrip of visits this weekend, and now says three schools stand out.
After visiting Arkansas, Missouri and Arkansas State, Jones says the benefits of each school stand out in his mind.
"All three of those schools have gone up a bit," Jones said. "Since I've been t those schools, I know what I like about them."
Jones visited Missouri on Friday. The football facilities were a bit more empty, as the team has one last free weekend before August camp starts on Thursday. Still, Jones said he enjoyed the visit and a more personal tour from his recruiting coach, Alex Grinch.
"I got to see the facilities, the locker room and of course the game field," Jones said. "I went in the skybox and met with the academic people for a while. I saw the weight room and got to meet a few of the coaches that were there."
While Columbia, Mo., isn't close to Hampton, Ga., Jones said a big plus for Missouri was proximity.
"Of course the campus is nice, but everything is right there," Jones said. "I like that. It doesn't take a long time to get place-to-place. The facility, housing and the field are all in the same area."
In talking with Grinch, Jones said it was made clear that the Tigers' staff see him as a wide receiver. Many schools are recruiting Jones as a safety, but Missouri wants to see the ball in his hands.
"They're really interested in me as a receiver," Jones said. "I'm interested in them the same amount."
Despite becoming more familiar with Missouri, Jones said there's still plenty to see. Because of the lack of players and coaches, Jones said he'll now schedule an official visit to Columbia.
"I have to get back there for a bye week or a free week during the season," Jones said.
In addition to Missouri, Jones said he'll "definitely" take official visits to Arkansas and Minnesota, a school he visited earlier in the summer.
The picture is coming into focus for Jones, but he's still taking his time.
"I don't want to make a rush decision," Jones said. "I think I'll know where I want to commit earlier in the season, but I may wait to announce it until after the season."
