Jackson logging some miles

Mizzou football's padded camps are primarily attended by local teams who take advantage of time on the football field to get in some summer practices. There is, however, a small contingent of players that attend the camps on their own and get assigned to renegade teams made up of multiple individual campers.
Much of the time renegade campers have been invited by the Mizzou coaches so that the players can be evaluated in person and in pads.

Occasionally, though, a prospect will decide to attend a camp on his own in an attempt to gain a schools attention. That was the case with class of 2014 Texarkana (Texas) wide receiver Taylor Jackson who stood out at the second Mizzou team camp due to his size and ability.
"Mizzou's been sending a lot of mail, so that's why I decided to come to their camp," he explained. "I'm looking to get myself better to help my team get better. I also decided to come up here and get some attention from the coaches, as well. To try to get them talking to me."
Did Jackson, who looked bigger than the 6-foot-2, 185 pounds he is listed at, feel as though he accomplished what he wanted in attending the Mizzou camp?
"Yes," he answered confidently. "It's been going pretty good. I talked with Coach [Pat] Washington a lot, the receivers coach. He was working with me and giving me a lot of coaching tips. He said he really likes the way I play and that they will be in contact with me more now."
Jackson has also attended camps at Arkansas, Baylor, and TCU this summer and will be attending camps soon at North Texas, SMU, Texas A&M, and UT San Antonio. Additionally, he has been hearing from Arkansas St. and Rice.
When Jackson does start to receive offers he does not plan to rush into a decision.
"I'm going to take my time, get to my visits, and see what I like," he explained. "I look at the engineering program because that is what I'm going to major in. I look there and I see what the graduation rate would be. I also look at the football program since that will be what I'm doing at college."
