Local schools staying strong with Cameron Brown

CHICAGO – St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College wide receiver Cameron Brown’s offer list is starting to go national, but a pair of local schools are holding on strong in the three-star prospect’s recruitment.

THE LATEST

Brown has stayed close to home so far this spring, but the Spring Evaluation Period has brought new attention and new offers. Just this week Brown has added offers from Georgia and Purdue and he is closing in on 20 total offers. The two Power Five programs located in closest proximity to Brown’s St. Louis home, though, are Illinois and Missouri. Both schools were among his first four offers and have stayed in close contact with him since.

IN HIS WORDS

Missouri - “The relationship is pretty good. They come up to our school every once in awhile and we talk to them on the phone. It’s not that far, so we can travel up there when we need to.

Illinois - “I have been up there a couple times. They say I am their No. 1 receiver, so hopefully I stay up there with them. I talk to them, like, two times a week and I feel their up-and-coming program is pretty good. It’s a good feeling out there and the fans just love Lovie Smith. They are getting a new stadium."

RIVALS’ REACTION

A decision from Brown is not expected in the near future. He is aiming to narrow his list to a top five or 10 at the end of the summer, but still remains wide open and said he talks with coaches at all 17 schools that have offered him. Brown is one of 10 in-state prospects in the 2018 class that Missouri has targeted and the Tigers are creating a strong buzz in the St. Louis area right now. Illinois does not have a lot of momentum on the recruiting trail right now, but with Brown’s timetable they have plenty of time and are obviously laying the groundwork to be among the contenders when decision time comes.
