Martin makes it official

Going into his weekend visit at the University of Missouri, 2015 Prime Prep Academy (Texas) wide receiver Brandon Martin had an idea about where he wanted to commit.
Mizzou coaches had been down to see the Under Armour All-American last week and after that visit he tweeted the following.

The meaning was not 100% clear, but the timing of the visit from Missouri's coaches and tweet was hard to ignore.
Martin made his decision official about half way through his Mizzou official visit.
"Everybody treated me like I was apart of the family," said Martin when asked why he committed to Missouri. "I liked how everybody was together. I don't even know what I was expecting going into the visit, but the trip definitely exceeded it."
Fellow wide receiver J'Mon Moore was Martin's host on the official visit.
"I liked hanging with J'Mon," Martin stated. "We hit it off real quickly. He showed me around campus and took me to a party. Hanging out with him was the best part of the trip."
That, and all the food.
"They fed us steak, lobster, chicken strips, chicken, mozzarella sticks, cookies, ice cream and cup cakes. There was more than that too, but that's all I can remember right now. I think I added a few pounds," said Martin with a laugh.
Martin also got a chance to spend some quality time with the other visitors in for the weekend. That group included a likely candidate to be Martin's quarterback in a couple years.
"I'm excited to catch some passes from Drew down the road," he said of meeting Army All-American QB Drew Lock.
Before Martin catches any passes from Lock, though, he could catch some passes from current Mizzou quarterback Maty Mauk. Martin had a chance to meet Mauk too and liked what he saw.
"I can see myself catching some passes from him soon," he said. "I feel like I can come in and contribute right away."
A lot of prospects say they feel like they could come in and contribute immediately, but when talking with Martin you can tell he really believes it. There is a high level of confidence when he describes what the Tigers are getting in him.
"I'm going to bring hard work, athleticism, speed and strength," Martin stated.
Now that Martin has gone ahead and committed to Missouri he will talk with his family about visits to Auburn and LSU that were previously planned. They will sit down together to try and decide if he will still take them.
"I don't really know if I'll take anymore visits," he said. "I'm going to talk with my dad about it. Right now I'm 100% committed to Mizzou."
Martin continued, saying he is planning on signing with Mizzou at a ceremony held at Prime Prep. Once he is done with that, Martin will start working on getting ready for the SEC.
"I'll be working out a lot. Working on my craft," he explained. "A lot of footwork drills. A lot of route running. Just catching as many passes as I can."
