Memphis guard high on a half dozen

The Missouri Tigers hosted approximately 80 talented prospects at their elite basketball camp over the weekend. For the Class of 2010, one of the headliners was Memphis guard Mardracus Wade.

"I played against a lot of players, like their upcoming guard Mike Dixon and he's real good," Wade said of the competition. "They had some outstanding guards there too."
For Wade, the camp was his first chance to check out Columbia and the Mizzou campus.
"Everything was real good. I liked their campus, liked their facility, like how everything was laid out. I like that the players got 24 hour access to the gym," Wade said. "The city is real supportive of them. They treat them like kings there."
The three-star guard has a host of offers, including one from the Tigers. After he finishes playing with the Memphis Magic in July, Wade plans to trim his list of schools.
"After July's over with I'm going to sit down with my parents," he said. "I'm going to try to get those visits planned and make an early commitment."
Wade already has a list of six that sit atop the race to land his November signature. Arkansas, Missouri, Baylor, Mississippi State, Alabama and Massachusetts are the leaders in the competition. He says that Arkansas is probably recruiting him the hardest at this time.
"It's not that far from here, close to home and I like how coach Pelphrey plays," Wade said. "They've been really scouting me good and pushing it real hard. I went up there a couple times for elite camp and for a game and everything looked pretty good."
But Mike Anderson and Missouri made an impression this weekend as well.
"They spoke with me and my parents," Wade said of Anderson and assistant T.J. Cleveland. "They've been very positive and up front about how they feel about me and how I would fit in with their team. They're just building relationships and they've been doing a great job."
Wade hopes to trim his list to five schools in August and take official visits in the fall. PowerMizzou.com will continue to follow his recruitment.
