Duane Washington Jr.’s visit to Missouri this past weekend was more of a reunion than it was an actual visit.

The 6-foot-3 point guard out of Grand Rapids, MI took in the football game against Eastern Michigan and got a tour of the facilities from Tigers assistant basketball coach Steve Shields, who Washington has known since he was a little kid.

“It was good to see him again,” he told PowerMizzou.com. “I hadn’t seen him in a long time. The facility was really nice. That was the first time I’d been to an SEC school.”

Washington is the son of former NBA player Duane Washington and the nephew of five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher. When Washington was a kid, he would go down to Arkansas for summer basketball camps at Fisher’s alma mater Arkansas-Little Rock, where Shields coached.
