Mizzou a positive trip for Wise

As the 2013 spring camp approaches the halfway point Mizzou continues to bring in prospects to see the Tigers in action on the field. This past Tuesday 2014 Clarksville (TN) linebacker Connor Wise was one of those visitors. PowerMizzou.com spoke with Wise to see what he thought of his trip to Columbia.

"It was crazy. I loved it. I loved the practice. It was intense," Wise started. "We do a lot of what the linebackers were doing in our practices. Coach Steckel reminds me a lot of my head coach."
"I sat down in the linebacker meeting, which was a lot different than what we do in high school," he continued. "It's a lot more than just cover three or cover two."
During the down time when practice or meetings were not going on Wise got the opportunity to talk more with the Mizzou defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Dave Steckel, who had some instructions for him.
"I got to talk with Coach Steckel some and he told me they want to see so more video on me so I got that to him," Wise said. "I'm supposed to be talking with him in the next couple days about it."
Wise, who made the six hour trip with his mom, also got the opportunity to tour the athletic facilities and the main campus. He came away very impressed.
"The facilities overwhelmed me a little bit," explained Wise. "Especially the indoor facility, practice fields, and the weight room. I'd never seen anything like that. My mom and I also went on to the main campus. I liked the set up and how the football facilities are right there."
Touring the academic side of Mizzou was important for Wise, who listed academics as an important factor in his approach to picking a school.
"Football is definitely a big factor, but I'm also looking for a school that has really good business and communication programs," Wise said.
Moving forward Wise is planning on visiting other schools, starting with home state Middle Tennessee State, and then in the summer he will start attending camps.
"Mizzou asked me to attend their one day camp and I'm planning on going. I actually already got the form turned in," he said. "I got an invite to the N.C. State camp as well."
To prepare for the camps Wise is putting in a lot of work to make sure he takes advantage of every opportunity.
"I'm working on a lot. A lot of lifting definitely. A lot of speed training. We go every day of the week after school till about 5:30," he explained.
PowerMizzou.com will continue to track Wise's recruitment as he works towards a Missouri offer.
