Mizzou lands Texas safety

On Monday morning Missouri football secured commitment four from the state of Texas in the 2016 class as Dallas (Texas) Wilmer-Hutchins safety DeMarkus Acy chose Mizzou. It is quite a turnaround for the Tigers after having missed out altogether in Texas for the 2015 class.
The Tigers only landed two in 2014 so 2016 has the chance to be the biggest Texas haul since Jason Reese, DeQuinton Osborne, Marcus Loud and J'Mon Moore headed north in 2013.

Acy becomes the 16th member of the 2016 class overall and the second projected to play safety joining junior college transfer Greg Taylor. The three-star prospect is viewed as more of a coverage safety due to his speed and athleticism. He does appear to have a frame that could add significant strength when teamed with Dr. Pat Ivey.
As of right now, it looks like the Tigers will add two more commitments to the current class for a total of 18 (plus Tyler Howell arriving late from the 2015 class). PowerMizzou continues to hear that defensive line and quarterback are the positions that Mizzou is looking to fill. Amani Bledsoe, Emmit Gooden, Jovan Swann, Zack Weatherly, Nathan Rourke and Micah Wilson are a few of the players we are following closely.
