Miguel Paul came up four points short of ending his senior season at Kathleen High School on the ultimate high note. Paul and his teammates dropped the Florida Class 4A state championship game by a score of 80-76 against Miami Monsignor Pace last weekend.

"We played pretty good. We just played hard a little bit too late," Paul said. "If we had played that way the whole game, we probably would have won."
The Red Devils trailed by as many as 21 points in the second half, but Paul led a rush to get them back in the game. The Missouri signee had a game-high 24 points and hit a free throw to make it a one possession game in the final 30 seconds, but Kathleen could not close the deal.
"It was a real good season," Paul said a couple days after the loss. "I worked real hard and I was pretty happy."
Now, it's focusing on his future. Paul says he will take about two weeks off before getting in the weight room to prepare for his June arrival in Columbia.
"I try to talk to the coaches every day, but at least three or four days a week," he said. "I just have to make sure I get my school work done and hit the weights."
Paul, by his estimation, averaged 23 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals a game as a senior, while the Red Devils finished 24-and-5. He doesn't have any specific numbers in mind, but Paul has a goal set for his first year as a Tiger:
"Go in and have an impact my freshman year."
With Jason Horton leaving the backcourt, Paul should certainly get his shot.
