Phillips talks commitment

Missouri got a comeback win over Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers also got some help for the future. Oak Hill Academy point guard Terrence Phillips committed to the Tigers during his official visit.
"I was sitting there watching practice and then watching the game, I see where I can really be needed," Phillips said. "I know for a fact they had 14 assists as a team today. The whole month of December, I averaged 14 by myself. I think I can bring that playmaking ability they're missing right now."

Phillips picked up an offer from Loyola Marymount during an official visit last weekend and got one from the Tigers during his trip to Columbia. He also claims offers from Auburn and Georgia State. He cited his relationship with Tiger assistant coach Rob Fulford as a major factor in his commitment.
"I've known him since my sophomore year at Oak Hill when he was at Huntington Prep," Phillips said. "We always had small conversations and were exchanging words and our relationship has grown since then.
"I felt the love from the fans and the coaching staff this whole week."
With recruiting out of the way, Phillips will turn his attention back to his Oak Hill team. The Warriors are currently 21-and-0. They have 32 games left and Phillips says he is focused on winning a national championship. He's also got a school record to chase. Phillips recently passed NBA star Rajon Rondo to enter the top five in all-time assists at Oak Hill, one of the country's most prestigious prep schools.

""I will get the record before the season is over," Phillips told PowerMizzou.com last week. "I think right now I'm maybe 150 assists off of the record. Jeff McGinnis has the record now."

Those aren't the only big names in Oak Hill history with a connection to Phillips. He is the younger brother of Detroit Pistons star, and Oak Hill's all-time leading scorer, Brandon Jennings.

Phillips said he is completely done with recruiting and will take no more visits. He will sign with the Tigers in the late signing period which begins on April 15th.
