Porter breaks down top five
There’s never a quiet day in Michael Porter’s life.
The 6-foot-9 forward has spent the majority of his summer in airports, hotel rooms and of course gyms, while still trying to enjoy his last summer of AAU basketball and help his family move to Seattle.
Porter’s father, a former assistant for the Missouri women’s basketball team was recently hired as an assistant by Washington and head coach Lorenzo Romar, Porter’s godfather. The family moves from Columbia in August and Porter still doesn’t know where he will play his last season of high school basketball.
In the meantime, the no. 2 ranked player in the Rivals150 heads to Colorado Springs this week where he’ll try out for the under-18 United States national team. If Porter makes it, he’ll head with the team to Chile in August.
After that he plans on attending the Nike Skills Academy and Stephen Curry camp aside from his trip to the Peach Jam with his MoKan Elite team.
“If we do what we’re supposed to do, I think we’ll do great,” Porter told PowerMizzou.com of his team’s Peach Jam chances.
