Powell keeping open mind

2016 Hannibal (Mo.) offensive lineman Dylan Powell admittedly grew up a Mizzou fan. That does not mean it is a forgone conclusion that he will end up a Tiger if Missouri was to offer, though.
"I've always watched Mizzou since I was little, but I'm still going to keep my options open no matter what," the 6-foot-3, 250 pound sophomore said.

That is one reason why the visit to Missouri's Black & Gold Spring Game and getting in on Powell as early as they have was so important for the Tigers. It helps show him that he is a priority early in the recruiting game.
"It was a great experience," said Powell of his trip to Columbia. "I had a really good time and it was really great to spend a day with my family at Mizzou. They had great hospitality and I just enjoyed their event."
"When we got there we checked in and got our tickets. Then we went and ate lunch. After a little while the coaches talked to all of us and we got to tour all the facilities," he continued. "We got to see what all of Mizzou's facilities look like. Then we got to go watch pre-game down on the field and see how their offense and defense warms up. Their pre-game routine. After that we watched the game."
One of the highlights of the trip for Howell was getting to meet his recruiting coach, offensive coordinator and co-offensive line coach Josh Henson
"I had a conversation with Coach Henson. It went really good. He's a great guy and I liked him a lot," he explained. "It was a great experience to talk with him. He told me he really likes my film and he likes how I use my athleticism. He also likes my technique and how I play aggressive. He was talking to me about snapping the ball for them and playing center. Possibly playing guard."
Still being a sophomore, the recruiting game is kind of new for Powell. Despite that he is trying to keep a level head and not be overwhelmed by it, despite already hearing from B1G, Big XII and SEC schools.
"I think I'm going to kind of take it in stride, but it's going to be a great experience for me. I'll just go with the flow and see what happens. Keep all my options open," he explained. "I have heard in various ways from Michigan, Kansas State, Northern Iowa, Army and Nebraska so far."
Next up for the high school tackle will be the summer camp circuit. He has not got all the locations ironed out yet, but he is getting close.
"I'm not sure yet," said Powell about which camps he will be attending. "I'm probably going to go to these camps they're inviting me to, just to get a feel for the schools. Right now I'm probably going to go to camps at Mizzou definitely, Iowa and Illinois State. I'm going to look in to these other camps later on and see what happens from there."
Asked what really stood out to him about his first division one spring game experience, Powell thought for a moment and then answered.
"I think that Mizzou has a great atmosphere and a great fan base. The campus is beautiful and the facilities are nice. It's just a great place to possibly be at," he said.
