Practice Notes: August 7th

Missouri opened the second week of fall camp in full pads on the Kadlec Athletic practice fields Monday morning. Here's all you need to know from the workout.

                                      PALMORE IN, BRANDON STILL WAITS

Junior college defensive tackle Walter Palmore made his first appearance with the Tigers during closed practices over the weekend. By Monday morning, he was in full pads, cleared to participate in all activities.

"He's 335 pounds or so, that's before breakfast," head coach Barry Odom said. "He's got a chance of being a really good player inside. Not only is he big, but he's got some short space quickness. He's going to make some plays."

But he's not there yet.

"He's out of shape. That's the first thing I saw," defensive line coach Brick Haley said. "You expect that when a guy gets back, been gone for a while and not used to be out here with the rest of the guys. But he's coming along quickly.

"Opportunity to be a big run-stopper."

Meanwhile, fellow juco transfer Rashad Brandon--who practiced all spring--is still being held out as the NCAA reviews his eligibility. Malik Young is not yet cleared either and is not on campus at this time.

"Unfortunately they don't work over the weekend so we didn't get any work done," Odom said. "But I know they were working on it this morning."
