After each game this year, PowerMizzou.com will recognize the standout performers by handing out our game balls. Here is our list from the 62-10 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
Marcus Murphy: Murphy had just 28 yards on four carries, but broke Roger Wehrli's 45-year old school record with 180 punt return yards. He was the first Tiger ever to return two punts for touchdowns and also had a great block on a blitz pickup on a touchdown pass from Corbin Berkstresser to Jimmie Hunt.
Sheldon Richardson: Defensive tackles won't blow you away with statistics, but Richardson spent a good amount of time in the Lions' backfield in the first half on Saturday night. He ended up with three tackles, a hurry and a pass breakup.
Kony Ealy: Ealy made the statement that ended the game, engulfing quarterback Nathan Stanley with a vicious hit that dislodged the ball. Michael Sam ran it back seven yards for a touchdown that made it 28-0. Ealy had four total tackles and a pass breakup.
Zaviar Gooden: Gooden had an interception that he returned 20 yards for a score to put the Tigers up 14-0 less than five minutes in. It marked the third consecutive game Gooden had a pick going back to last year. Gooden led the Tigers with sick tackles and two for a loss.
Corbin Berkstresser: The game was decided and there is no quarterback controversy to discuss, but Berkstresser's first two drives resulted in 11 plays, 89 yards and 14 points. He finished 5-for-5 for 60 yards and a touchdown and added 25 yards and a score on the ground.
Jimmie Hunt: Hunt had a 10-yard touchdown and another 33-yard reception down the sideline. Of all the receivers Missouri trotted out (nine caught at least one pass, none more than three) Hunt may have made the loudest cry for more playing time.
