Over the years Missouri has had some success with basketball recruits from Tennessee with the most recent examples being Laurence Bowers and Keith Ramsey. The newest Tiger target from the Volunteer state is Anthlon Bell, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Bartlett High School. PowerMizzou.com caught up with Bell Monday night and talked with him about his interest in Missouri.
Bell, who is being recruited by coach Tim Fuller already has a scholarship offer and has set up an official visit for the weekend of November the 4th. Additionally, he was visited this week at his high school by Fuller and Frank Haith, who watched Bell and his teammates participate in conditioning. Bell said it was good to see the two coaches at his school, but he didn't have much of a chance to talk with them.
At this point Bell has a top six of Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Richmond, Kent State and UMass in no particular order. Bell went on to say that all the schools currently in his top six are being given the same amount of consideration.
Bartlett begins its season at the end of October and Bell is looking forward to having a successful senior campaign. When asked to describe his abilities on the basketball court Bell wasn't shy.
"In high school I play shooting guard and my strengths are shooting and creating scoring opportunities for myself," Bell said. "I can also create for other people too which is good, because coaches have talked to me about playing more of a combo guard position in college."
As Bell's visit gets closer PowerMizzou.com will continue to monitor the situation and give updates as they come in.
