Missouri and West Virginia will kick off at 11 a.m. Central time Saturday morning in Morgantown. Throughout the week, PowerMizzou.com will analyze the matchup. Today, we look at three key individual matchups when Missouri is on defense.
West Virginia's right tackles vs Mizzou's defensive ends
We didn't put specific names here because, frankly, it's probably going to be a bit of a revolving door. We know Charles Harris is a mainstay on the other side, opposite the Mountaineers' left tackle. He's going to get most of the attention. When he does, what can the guys on the other side do?
Jordan Harold earned the starting job. Spencer Williams is listed as his backup. The Mountaineers' depth lists redshirt junior Marcell Lazard and redshirt freshman Colton McKivitz as an "or" situation at right tackle. If WVU can handle Harold and Williams one-on-one, that frees up an extra blocker for Harris. If they're having to double team on that side as well, or keep an extra tight end in to block, this matchup favors Mizzou.
Harold might be the most intriguing starter for Missouri, period. For this game, he might be the most important.
