The Starter: Again, we go by the depth chart which means Martin Rucker is listed as the starter (though really there are two). The only question is this: Will he be the best tight end in the Big 12 or the second-best on his own team? Rucker passed up a shot at the pros to come back for his senior season. Expect a big year.
The Backup: Chase Coffman is a backup on paper only. There may not be another team in the nation that would have the luxury of listing his as a second-stringer. Rucker will hold all the tight end records by the end of the year. The only way he will keep them is if Coffman elects to go pro after his junior season…an option he will likely have.
The Spring Prediction: What's to predict? Rucker and Coffman will be dominant and will be the best tight end tandem in the Big 12...again.
Things Could Change If: Missouri suddenly finds an extra year of eligibility and gets Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez or Kellen Winslow, Jr., on campus. Short of that, nothing is changing here.
