Tiger Watch: Cornerbacks

With spring football over, recruiting takes center stage for Missouri's staff. Over the next week, PowerMizzou.com will break down Missouri's recruiting efforts position-by-position to see where the Tigers are looking to fill its 2014 class.
Today, we continue with cornebacks.

1. How many will Missouri take?
Missouri loses two cornerbacks after this season, and signed two in last year's class. Because of that, expect the Tigers to sign at least two cornerbacks in the 2014 class.
2. Who has Missouri landed so far?
Recently, Missouri picked up the commitment of Thompson's Station (Tenn.) cornerback Finis Stribling IV, who verballed the Tigers the same day he picked up an offer. He's currently the only cornerback commitment for Missouri
3. Who's off the board?
Missouri has offered 15 cornerbacks, and only one has committed elsewhere. Cedar Hill (TX) cornerback Malcolm Green is committed to Oklahoma. Other than him, everyone seems somewhat wide open.
4. Which recruits does Missouri have the best shot at landing?
There are a few players in the area that Missouri has a good shot with. Lee's Summit West's Logan Cheadle, Overland Park (Kan.) cornerback Andre Maloney and Edwardsville (Ill.) cornerback Craig James all have Missouri in the mix at this stage.
Marietta (Ga.) cornerback Christopher Murphy has visited Missouri twice, and he's releasing his list of top schools sometime this week. The Tigers have a good shot at making that cut.
Finally, Oakland (Cali.) junior college cornerback Jamal Mayo picked up his first offer form the Tigers, and he spoke highly of them at this early stage.
5. Any long shots out there?
Missouri has offered two four-stars in Wesley Green and Kyle Gibson, and neither has mentioned the Tigers. Those may be the only true long shots, however.
