Tigers suspend starting safety
PowerMizzou.com has learned that starter Kaleb Prewett has been indefinitely suspended for a violation of team rules.
The team confirmed the news in a message:
“Kaleb Prewett has been indefinitely suspended from the University of Missouri football program for a violation of team policy. We will continue to gather additional information and work with campus and department leadership to determine his future in our program.”
Prewett transferred to Missouri from Kansas State before the 2016 season. He sat out last year and became eligible for the 2017 season. He started the season at linebacker before moving to safety. Prewett was fourth on the team with 60 tackles and played in all 13 games. He had at least one tackle in every game and had a season-high six against both Texas and Vanderbilt.
Prewett would be a redshirt senior next season. He played his high school football at Blue Springs.
No further information is available at this time as far as the reason for Prewett's suspension. We will update this story as we learn more.
