Every week, PowerMizzou.com publisher Gabe DeArmond answers questions from Tiger fans in the mailbag. This format allows for a more expansive answer than a message board post. Keep your eye out each week to submit your question for the mailbag or send them to powermizzou@gmail.com. On to this week's inquiries.
Noodlerock asks: I am very confused with the mind set of female professional sports. The women's national soccer team and the WNBA have had problems with TV ratings and putting butts in seats for some time. How hard is it for these two entities to realize that if you want butts in seats and TV Ratings you have to protect and showcase your stars and promote stars that are likeable??The NHL has figured that out since Gretzky came into the NHL. They have to fight NASCAR and Pro Wrestling to be the number 4 sport. They protect and promote their superstars.Protect your stars and showcase and promote likeable stars. Easy formula.
GD: I'm not sure what the question is. And if it's "what should they do?" I'm completely unqualified to answer. You mentioned five sports in your question and I watch zero of the five.
Acrylic24 asks: Since Mizzou (currently) has a few scholarships available, could you see them going after a player who may had fizzled out of a big school (thinking of a Smoke Bouie, Aguyie Hall (i know he just committed but just another name) etc…) or would they rather give the scholarships to a walk-on who has earned it?
GD: There's not much left in the portal. Other than monitoring the Simeon Barrow situation, I'm pretty confident Mizzou's done adding players.
