Even after holding a press conference to announce its highest-rated recruiting class in Rivals history, Missouri wasn't done adding to the 2022 class. Wednesday afternoon, the Tigers landed the commitment of Boonville defensive end DJ Wesolak. The four-star prospect is the 15th commitment for the Tigers.
Wesolak saw his recruiting process begin to skyrocket at this time last year ,and that momentum carried over into the spring and summer, as he collected 49 total offers from notable programs like Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma, Penn State, Florida, and a host of others. He ultimately picked Missouri over LSU after taking an official visit to Baton Rouge last weekend.
Missouri extended an offer to 6-foot-4, 238-pound prospect back in November of 2020. Wesolak has taken multiple unofficial visits to Columbia, including Missouri's 24-23 overtime win over Florida. Aside from LSU, Wesolak took official visits to Florida in June and Penn State in September.
Wesolak saw his senior season curtailed due to a legal issue, but those charges have since been dismissed. In five games during his senior season, Wesolak recorded 36 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks. He also caught six passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns on offense, according to MaxPreps.com.
Wesolak becomes Missouri's third 2022 signee on the defensive line, all of which hail from the Missouri or just across state lines. He joins Marquis Gracial of St. Charles (Mo.), and Jalen Marshall of St. Thomas Aquinas (Kan.).
