West Bloomfield (MI) offensive lineman Javon Foster decommitted from Central Michigan shortly after receiving a Missouri offer on November 30th. Less than two weeks later, he is the 17th member of Mizzou's 2018 recruiting class.
Foster took an official visit to Columbia over the weekend with his parents. The family returned home to Michigan and made the decision just 24 hours later.
"When I went down there this weekend they just made me feel like I was a part of the family, like I was home," he said. "I was real comfortable, liked the city and it was real a nice area."
Mom and dad were impressed as well.
"They love the school," Foster said. "They told me they think that’s where i would do best at. They liked everything, the culture, everyone was real nice."
The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Foster will hit campus next summer with ready-made size. He said the Tiger coaches haven't specified if they see him as a guard or a tackle just yet.
"I'll play whatever they need me to play," he said. "They like the way that my footwork and they think I can bring something to the table and help me improve as a player."
Foster said offensive line coach Glen Elarbee came to see him during his senior season. Elarbee took a job on Josh Heupel's staff at UCF last week on the very same day Foster was starting his official visit. But Barry Odom and the rest of the current Tiger coaches won him over.
"We had a conversation about it but it didn’t really change my mind," Foster said. "I really went there for the school and the education."
Foster said he plans to sign during the early signing period, which begins a week from Wednesday. He is the 17th known commitment for the Tigers. The Missouri class currently ranks 43rd according to Rivals.com.
