Knox is number three for Mizzou

Just a moment ago Mizzou landed commitment number three in the 2018 football recruiting class. Arlington (Texas) Timberview all-purpose running back Jalen Knox tweeted that he has chosen the University of Missouri as his future school. He'll be a wide receiver for the Tigers.

PowerMizzou.com caught up with Knox to get the scoop on why the No. 88 ranked prospect in Texas decided the Tigers were the best fit for him.

"It's where I felt the most love. Felt the most comfortable," he explained. "I know I have the best chance of success on the football field, in the classroom and in the real world at Mizzou.

"I also really liked how much the town loves the football team. Almost everything in Columbia was about Mizzou and the different sports teams."

Tight end coach Joe Jon Finley was the lead recruiter for the three-star back. Over the recruiting process the two Arlington natives developed a very strong relationship.

"Coach Finley is a lot like a coach I have at Timberview. He always talked to me about more than just football. He always wanted to know how I was doing. How my grades were. Stuff like that. When I told him I was committing he got real excited. Him and all the rest of the coaches love that I'm going to be heading to Columbia."

Rivals.com has Knox rated at all-purpose running back. He's the No. 17 rated prospect at that position according to our analysts. Mizzou likes the 6-foot, 180-pounder at a different position.

"I'm going to play slot receiver and take some handoffs out of the backfield too. They'll use me on sweeps and reverses. Just get me the ball any way they can," Knox explained. "I bring a whole lot of speed and electric plays to the field."

Knox is not exaggerating at all when he says he'll bring speed to the Mizzou offense. During the 2017 outdoor track season he set personal records in the 100M, 200M and 400M.

He ran the 100 in 10.66 seconds.

The 200 in 21.54 seconds.

And the 400 in 52.00 seconds.

When talking the 2018 Missouri football recruiting class it's impossible not to bring up quarterback commit James Foster and the work he is doing as a recruiter. So it is no surprise that Knox mentioned the Alabama Elite 11 finalist when talking about his own commitment.

"James being committed was very important to me. Knowing that I'm going to have that high a caliber quarterback with me while I'm at Mizzou is awesome," said Knox. "He reached out to me multiple times to tell me he wanted me to join him in this class."

Now that Knox is a Tiger he will team up with Foster on the recruiting trail.

"I'm going to work with James to see who I need to start recruiting. I'm excited about recruiting some guys. I want to get the best players so Missouri has the best chance to be successful while I'm there," he explained.

With Knox now a Tiger the question for some fans will immediately turn to how solid is the commitment. He says he is 100% committed to Mizzou.

"I don't see myself signing anywhere else," the speedster stated matter-of-factly.

PowerMizzou.com will have more for Tiger fans on the commitment of Jalen Knox over the next few days.
