"Cuonzo Martin informed me this morning that he is resigning to accept a position at another school. We put forth our best effort to retain him, but he told me it wasn't about Cal, rather a strong desire to move closer to home," Cal Director of Athletic Mike Williams said in a release.

Multiple sources confirmed to PowerMizzou.com a Jeff Goodman report that Missouri has offered its head coaching job to California coach Cuonzo Martin. Reports have the deal at seven years for approximately $3 million per year.

We reported this morning that Missouri officials were in Oakland meeting with Martin on Sunday. In addition, Martin has been discussing the job with area high school coaches in recent days and sources tell us he will come to a decision in the next two to three days.

Martin's Bears lost in the first round of the NIT to Cal State-Bakersfield on Tuesday night. The Tigers have had an opening since announcing Kim Anderson had been asked to resign on Sunday, March 5th.

If Martin accepts the job, there could be far-reaching implications on the recruiting trail. For more on that, click here.

Earlier this week, we ran through the pros and cons of hiring Martin.
