After each game, we take a look at what we learned, what we still don't know and make a prediction going forward. Here is the 3-2-1 report from a Mizzou's 50-17 win over Tennessee.

THREE THINGS WE LEARNED

1. Odom will for sure be back for a third season. It seemed very likely that it was the case even before Mizzou beat down Tennessee. The improvement displayed by the Tigers since the bye week is undeniable for all but the most fervent Barry Odom haters. With dominating wins over two SEC opponents confidence is a mile high for this team. Handling Vanderbilt and Arkansas on the road isn't a given, but even if Missouri does the unlikely and loses both Odom will be back. He's shown he can get it done in this conference in spurts. More experience and continuing to find under recruited talent will ensure that the consistency returns to Missouri football.

2. Sherrils is the best player on this defense. It has been an up and down five years for Anthony Sherrils at Mizzou. A car crash nearly cost him his career before it even got going. Football injuries kept him off the field quite a bit. Standing up for something he believed in drew the ire of some and inconsistent play drew the ire of nearly everyone else. Despite all that he has persevered and is now playing the best football of his career. He is third on the team in tackles and leads the Tigers in takeaways with four. Two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Most of all Sherrils is making the ordinary play more effectively than previously. Offensive players fall back instead of carrying him for five yards. Open field tackles are made in space as opposed to running someone out of bounds. Unsurprisingly Mizzou's defense is playing the best it has while Barry Odom has been the head coach.

3. Witter is one of the top fifteen running backs to have played at Mizzou and is rising. As noted earlier this morning in the Tennessee notebook, Ish Witter has moved up to number thirteen on the all-time Mizzou career rushing yard list. He passed Bob Steuber, Tommie Stowers and Derrick Washington last week. Next up are Kendial Lawrence and Joe Moore. He needs only 156 yards to move pass both of them and move into number eleven all-time. To make it to number six all-time Witter needs 518 yards in three games. If he can accomplish that he would pass Russell Hansbrough, James Wilder, Corby Jones, Tony Temple and Darrell Wallace. To get into the top five he would need an additional 164 yards. Even if Witter can't get to the top five only Henry Josey, Devin West, Brock Olivo, Zack Abron and Brad Smith would be ahead of him. Not bad company at all.

TWO QUESTIONS WE STILL HAVE

1. Should Holmes or Crockett play even if they get healthy in time? Sophomore cornerback Christian Holmes has missed the entire season with a shoulder injury. He is reportedly very close to getting back into playing condition though. Even if he does get cleared medically at this point is it worth playing him? With how the defense has played recently and who the Tigers have left the answer is no. Let him take the redshirt and have three years to play three seasons. Sophomore running back Damarea Crockett already played a significant portion of the season so he has no chance to redshirt. That doesn't mean you bring him back if he is cleared though. The offense is really flowing right now with Ish Witter and Larry Rountree so let Crockett heal up and be ready to roll in 2018. With Crockett and Rountree whoever plays quarterback will not have to worry about the talent at running back.

2. Is the new defensive assistant already coaching at Mizzou? Missouri has been down an assistant coach since DeMontie Cross was fired earlier this season. With graduate assistants and analysts there are plenty of coaches available to get the work done. So seeing Ryan Walters named defensive coordinator after the season and an internal hire made to replace Cross is not out of the realm of possibility. Neal Renna, Sam Carter, Adam Hicks and Marcus Trice have all been mentioned by Barry Odom repeatedly for their work in turning the defense around. Carter taking over cornerbacks or safeties to lighten the load for Walters as DC makes sense. The TCU alumni is from New Orleans and would bring some young blood to the recruiting trail.

ONE BOLD PREDICTION

Missouri will finish the season with a 4,000 yard passer, a 1,000 yard rusher and two 1,000 yard receivers. This takes into account that a bowl game will count towards season stats. That means the Tigers will have three games left for Drew Lock to throw for 988 yards, Ish Witter to rush for 280 yards, J'Mon Moore to gain 221 yards receiving and Emanuel Hall to gain 294 yards receiving. That will be fun to watch.
