Another day brought the Porter family one step closer to reuniting in Columbia. On Thursday evening, Michael Porter, Sr. accepted a job on Cuonzo Martin's coaching staff. Later Thursday, the University confirmed the impending hire.

"Mizzou Athletics is pleased to confirm that Michael Porter, Sr. has accepted an assistant coaching position on Cuonzo Martin's staff pending the successful completion of the University's hiring process."

The speculation then immediately turned to Porter's sons, Michael Jr. and Jontay. Michael Jr. is the No. 1 player in the Class of 2017 who was released from his National Letter of Intent with Washington on Thursday afternoon. (Read More Here).

Porter has said he plans to reopen the recruiting process and has listed Mizzou, Washington, Virginia and Oklahoma as schools that have a chance. He said on Wednesday that he expected the process to be wrapped up in a couple of weeks. In the wake of his father's announcement on Thursday, it very well may not take that long.

Michael Porter Jr. is set to play in the McDonald's All-American Game next Wednesday in Chicago. Jontay Porter decommitted from Washington earlier in the week. He is currently the No. 38 player in the 2018 Rivals150. Jontay has considered reclassifying to enroll next fall at his school of choice, but a final decision has not been made.

PowerMizzou.com will have the latest information on the Porter recruitment and the rest of Cuonzo Martin's efforts tomorrow morning in The Chamber.
