After some initial confusion, it appears that New Orleans (La.) Landry-Walker defensive end Josh Smith is officially Missouri's second 2018 commitment.
Last night, Smith tweeted his commitment to Missouri.
However, Smith told PowerMizzou.com that he had yet to speak to a member of Missouri's staff to make his commitment official. Smith said he was offered by Missouri defensive analyst Sam Carter sometime during the end of his sophomore year of high school.
Close to midday Tuesday, Missouri recruiting coordinator A.J. Ofodile retweeted Smith's commitment tweet, showing that the commitment is viewed as official by Missouri's staff.
Smith said he has yet to visit Missouri, but said he is familiar with the school.
"Just liking the school, and their style of play," Smith said on Monday night. "I feel like their defense scheme really fits my play."
Smith is listed as a 6-foot-5, 247-pound defensive end. Missouri is his only known offer, but he comes from a talent-producing school. He joins 2018 Blue Springs (Mo.) defensive lineman Daniel Parker on Missouri's commitment list for the next recruiting cycle.
PowerMizzou.com will have more on Smith's commitment soon.
