In the summer of 2022, Eli Drinkwitz made a strong push for Cayden Green, a four-star offensive tackle out of Lee's Summit North who was ranked as the nation's No. 61 overall prospect. In the end, Mizzou lost out to Oklahoma. But on Tuesday, the Tigers grabbed Green on the rebound out of the transfer portal.
Green played nearly 600 snaps at left guard as a true freshman for the Sooners. He gave up just 12 pressures, one quarterback hit and no sacks according to PFF College. He shocked Norman--and most of the rest of college football--when he announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 12th.
Missouri was one of the immediately speculated destinations for Green, who was high school teammates with current Tiger Armand Membou and Class of 2024 pledge Williams Nwaneri. After a quick portal process, the three will be together again in Columbia come January.
Green will likely be slated to replace Javon Foster at left tackle for the Tigers. Foster played a team-high 831 snaps for Mizzou and garnered multiple all-American honors in his final season.
The addition will allow Mizzou to keep Membou at right tackle where he has excelled in two seasons. Cam'Ron Johnson and Connor Tollison are also set to return on an offensive front that paved the way for Cody Schrader's historic season and made Mizzou one of the country's most improved offenses. The only starter Mizzou will now need to replace on the line is left guard Xavier Delgado.
The 6-foot-5, 311-pounder is currently ranked as a four-star transfer and the No. 8 overall player in Rivals' transfer tracker rankings.
Missouri has now added three commitments in the portal with Green's announcement. He joins Clemson cornerback Toriano Pride and Georgia State running back Marcus Carroll. You can follow all the activity for the Tigers in our transfer tracker.
