Tiger trio set for a high school reunion

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO--When Williams Nwaneri committed to Missouri back on August 14th in front of a packed gymnasium at Lee's Summit North High School, Broncos' head coach Jamar Mozee remembered back to his sophomore season. New to the school, Nwaneri started on the junior varsity. But in practices, the young defensive lineman who nobody knew would line up across from two of his much more heralded teammates.

Senior Armand Membou and junior Cayden Green were already collecting scholarship offers. Membou would sign that December with Missouri where he has become a two-year starter at right tackle. Green went to Oklahoma and played nearly 600 snaps at left guard for the Sooners.

"At first, it was terrible," Nwaneri said. "We’re talking about pancakes and all that. But they kind of shaped me into the player I am today. So I appreciate it."

In eight months, Nwaneri will get to see how far he's come. He signed with the Tigers on Wednesday morning as the country's No. 1 defensive lineman and No. 3 overall prospect. And right across the line--again--will be Membou and Green who announced his intention to transfer to Mizzou on Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours before Nwaneri made his destination official.

"I guess we’ll see," Green said when asked if Nwaneri has closed the gap. "These practices should be fun."
