There was a sense around the recruitment of Vincent Gray that Mizzou was in very good shape to land a commitment from the three-star cornerback after his unofficial visit to Columbia a couple weekends back. With Gray going radio silent, though, it was tough to know for sure.
Gray cleared up any question on Friday. The Rochester (Mich.) Adams prospect tweeted his decision this afternoon.
Gray brings the size and athleticism that Ryan Walters, DeMontie Cross and Barry Odom are looking for in their defensive backfield. The 5.7 three-star committed to Missouri over offers from Boston College, Iowa State, Virginia, Kentucky, Oregon State, Washington State and other Power Five programs.
The commitment of Gray brings the Tigers 2018 class to seven leading in to Friday's Night at the Zou. He joins Texas linebacker Cameron Wilkins as commitments today. There the coaches will have a chance to continue to grow this year's class. Gray is the second cornerback to commit joining Tyrone Collins as future members of the defensive backfield.
Rivals.com Midwest Analyst Josh Helmholdt broke down Gray's game: "I'm usually not a fan of tall cornerbacks because they tend to be stiff, but Gray has shown good fluidity for a player of his size and I also like his playmaking ability. When we saw him in-person this spring I wanted to see him play quicker and show better explosiveness in his change of direction, but his straight line speed is good and he can stay with receivers down the field."
PowerMizzou.com will have more on the commitment of Vincent Gray and what it means to the 2018 class in addition to more from Gray himself as soon as possible.
