On Tuesday, Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger was given credit for inventing the Poke-a-Doke. He ordered his Sooners to foul Kansas big man Udoka Azubuike four times in the final 3:37. Azubike, who entered the game as a 40-percent foul shooter, missed all six free throw attempts, and the Sooners rallied to beat the Jayhawks 85-80.

Credit where credit is due, though: Missouri’s Jeremiah Tilmon came up with this strategy in the teams’ exhibition game in November. He liked it so much, he has applied it to almost every man he’s guarded since.

The freshman forward has fouled out of five of the last seven games, and the only thing that prevented him from being disqualified in Wednesday’s blowout loss to Auburn was Cuonzo Martin refusing to play him more than seven minutes. Tilmon finished with zero points, one rebound and three turnovers to go with his four fouls.

It was less an athletic performance than a cry for help.

That’s where we come in. It’s time for the next episode of “Hoops Intervention.”
