PowerMizzou.com has been talking to the Tiger newcomers throughout fall camp. Today, we chat with freshman offensive lineman Darvis Holmes.

PowerMizzou: How have the first couple of weeks of camp gone?

Holmes: "It's great. It's great. I'm a dog. I'm just gonna grind."

PowerMizzou: You've been a little bit banged up lately, I know.  Where are you at with your health?

Holmes: "I'm getting surgery in the morning."

PowerMizzou: On what?

Holmes: "I tore my labrum, my rotator cuff. I get surgery in the morning, but I can move it real good."

PowerMizzou:  Is that something then you expect you're going to have to redshirt and take a year because of that?

Holmes: "I'm just gonna miss about three or four games. I'll be back."

PowerMizzou:  Has coming to this level been easier than you thought?  Harder?

Holmes: "It's all I got. I don't really care how hard or easy it is. I love it here. It's great."

PowerMizzou:  Which of the older guys have you kind of leaned on to show you the ropes?

Holmes: "Big Josh (Augusta)."

PowerMizzou: Has there been any area where you come in and say, 'This is where I've got to get better to play at this level?'

Holmes: "Oh yeah. I'm not really used to O-Line. Coach Elarbee, he's worked with me a lot. He's a great coach, he's worked with me a lot."

PowerMizzou:  How close has your recruiting class gotten already?

Holmes: "We tight, man. We real tight. Super glue."

PowerMizzou:  Who's the funniest guy in your class?

Holmes: "I'd say me. But if it's not me, Tre (Williams). He's a goof."

PowerMizzou: A lot of people have said themselves for this one, but who's got the best style?  Who's the best dressed?

Holmes: "I don't really know. I don't really look at them like that. We all wear Mizzou stuff."

PowerMizzou:  From what you've seen, who's the best athlete?

Holmes: "Best athlete in my class, I'd say me again, but I'm not talking about that. I'd say my bro, K9 (Dimetrios Mason). He's real blessed."

PowerMizzou: Who's the strongest? Is that gonna be you again?

Holmes: "Oh yeah, that's no doubt. I'm no doubt the strongest." (At this point, Holmes rolls up his shirt sleeve to reveal his biceps.) "These don't come easy."
