Missouri athletic director Mike Alden offered his response to the recent events surrounding Ricky Clemons and the University of Missouri basketball program today.
In an official release from the university, Alden said, “I am aware of the recent issues that have come to light involving our men’s basketball program. We will continue to look in to the matters internally and I have complete confidence in our compliance staff and in the fact that we will conduct a thorough investigation into these issues.”

“We have built a solid foundation of honesty and integrity here at the University of Missouri and will continue to hold our staff and our student-athletes to high expectations of conduct. After a complete review of the information we gather, we will act accordingly.”
Alden returned to work from vacation today in Columbia.
Last Thursday, court depositions in Clemons’ domestic assault case were released. In his 91-page deposition, men’s basketball coach Quin Snyder admitted giving Clemons at least two pairs of shoes and two pairs of pants. Snyder said in the deposition he didn’t remember exactly what he gave Clemons, but did cite a pair of athletic shoes, a pair of flip-flops and some Oakley sweatpants.
At that time, the University said it was trying to determine if Snyder’s actions constituted and NCAA violation. Snyder has since said he may have unintentionally committed a violation.
There were also allegations that assistant coach Lane Odom had given Clemons cash. Snyder said he knew nothing about that, and would be surprised if it had happened.
