Nearly two months after Kim Anderson was named the 18th head coach of the Missouri Tiger basketball program, he has hired the final piece of his coaching staff. Rob Fulford, formerly of Huntington Prep (WV), was named the final assistant earlier today.

He joins associate head coach Tim Fuller, director of basketball operations Bryan Tibaldi and director of video operations Toby Lane who stayed on at Missouri from the previous staff as well as newly hired assistant coach Brad Loos and athletic performance coach Matt Herring in making up Kim Anderson's staff.
"It kind of popped up pretty quick," Fulford said of his interest in the Missouri position. "I've known Coach Fuller for a little while and when the position was available he reached out to me to see if it was something that I'd be interested in. It obviously was."
"I spoke with Coach Anderson on the phone and really hit it off with him. His passion for Missouri basketball and the fact that he has lived it. He's put that uniform on," he continued. "We were always involved with high, high level kids [at Huntington Prep] and Coach Anderson's a guy that can close the deal because he can sell Missouri better than anyone else."
As far as his role with the Tigers, it has not been fully set yet. According to Fulford, though, he feels that there will be multiple ways for him to help Mizzou be a successful program.
"I'm a basketball coach first off. I've had 40 division one kids over the last eight years, so I'm obviously a good recruiter. I pride myself on being a good strategy guy. Just a basketball guy. I think, obviously, Coach Anderson will sit down with all of us and sort of give us our roles as to what he sees all of us doing. I'm just happy and excited to get started," he explained.
Another interesting part of the move for Fulford will be transitioning from being a head coach to an assistant.
"I'm willing to do whatever it takes to win basketball games. It won't be that big of an adjustment. As a head coach I always kind of divvied up duties to my assistant coaches and kind of let them run with it. Then you step in and you're the final decision," said Fulford.
"In talking with Coach Anderson I think he is definitely going to let his assistants have some say and then he gets the final call. I'm just excited for the opportunity to work for him," he continued. "He's a great guy. He's obviously a great coach. He's grinded it out going the division two route the way he has. It's exciting to work for somebody who's put so much time to get to his dream job."
Next up for Fulford is a 6 am flight tomorrow morning from Huntington to Columbia, where he will get a chance to meet the full team for the first time.
"I know some of them. I don't know all of them," Fulford said. "I'm a basketball junkie so I kind of know the in's and out's of what they have. I'm going to get a chance to meet them all tomorrow and kind of go from there."
